Monika is an E-RYT 500 (Registered Yoga Teacher), Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Provider (YACEP), Certified SmartFLOW Yoga Teacher, Certified Pilates Teacher and owner of MO Yoga Life. She began her yoga journey in 2014 as part of a recovery/ therapy regimen. Amazed by the inner sense of strength cultivated by the yoga practice, it became the foundation of her new life. Her passion for yoga quickly turned into one of sharing what the practice gave her with others. She completed her 200 hr yoga teacher training in Vancouver in 2016 at Westcoast Hot Yoga and completed her 300 hr vinyasa flow yoga teacher training in Las Vegas in 2016 at Sin City Yoga. In 2017, she completed a 200 hr SmartFLOW teacher training in Las Vegas at Yoga Sanctuary with Rachael Sellers. In 2020, she completed the SmartFLOW advanced teacher training program with Annie Carpenter. In 2020, she studied and trained in Pilates and Corrective Exercise in a quest to more deeply understand her students’ needs and how to help them. In 2021 She received her Pilates and Corrective Exercise certification in Mat, Reformer, Cadillac, Wunda Chair and Barrel. Since 2022, Monika has been working alongside a physical therapist with her patients to complement their treatment. Monika continues to take workshops and learn about a wide variety of topics to further enhance her work. She uses the modalities and methods most appropriate for her clients and students to reach their goals, whether it is recovering from surgery, getting stronger, participating freely in activities of daily living, performing better in a sport or just having a fun workout.
Monika has a B.Sc. from the University of British Columbia where she studied Integrated Sciences. Her curriculum included human physiology, pharmacology, pathology, psychology, biochemistry, genetics and evolutionary biology. This created a foundation for her knowledge and understanding of the integral relationship between the human body and mind. She has been a fitness and nutrition enthusiast since she was 13, competed in a provincial competition when she was 17 and also holds certifications in Trauma Recovery Yoga, Hot Pilates and Bootcamp.
